Acronym: PROTEIN
Name: Personalised nutrition for healthy living
Duration: 2019-2022
Project Website: https://protein-h2020.eu/

PROTEIN was a research initiative led by a consortium of European public- and private-sector organizations working to promote health and wellbeing. By bringing together experts from across Europe, PROTEIN developed tools using the latest communications technologies and machine learning strategies to provide personalized nutrition and physical activity support to EU citizens. PROTEIN received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation programme under grant agreement No 817732.

NISLAB participated in PROTEIN WP3, WP4 and WP7 and was involved in Knowledge base engineering, Food identification / intake assessment subsystems and understanding of food choice drivers. During the course of the project, NISLAB prototyped a custom solution to extract and visualise data from a personalised nutrition environment, entitled “NAP Explorer”.  Members of the lab and students of the department also participated in platform evaluation and pilot implementations across Greece.
